Forget Best and Worst, Who's the Most Interesting 20th Century President

There was always that talking point in the 2000 race: "People would just rather have a beer with George Bush than Al Gore." To which I always thought, "Are you insane? Why would I want to have a beer with George Bush? What could we possibly have to talk about?" I'd love to have a beer with Al Gore, otoh. Interesting, smart, funny. George Bush, for all his other flaws, is also the most spectacularly uninteresting person to be President in modern history.

Which leads me to my Saturday, avoid-Xmas-shopping question: Who is the most interesting person to be President in the 20th century? I don't really mean the beer question ... for example, having a beer with Richard Nixon would be a creepy experience, but I don't think it's controversial to say he was an interesting person, in a very dark way. Same point on whether that "interesting-ness" was positive or negative ... I could see someone answering "Nixon" to this question, even if you thought he was the worst person to grace the Oval Office in our history (and he could've been).

So ... what's the answer (I left out Harding in the poll 'cause I had to drop one)? I'll put mine in comments ...
